Hola, beautiful souls! 🌸
Those who have spent time with us at Bodhi know how deeply we anchor our lives in gratitude. We try our best never to take things for granted, honoring the people, the ocean, and the natural rhythms that bring joy, meaning, and intention into our daily lives.
In Costa Rica, today—August 15th—is Mother’s Day. To celebrate, I wanted to offer a heartfelt gift to all the mothers, families, alumni, and conscious travelers who have graced our home and shared their presence with us.

For over two years, I’ve been pouring my heart, mind, and personal journey into writing a book: Ayurveda: The Science of the 5 Elements — Understanding the healing power hidden in Nature.
For a long time, I studied Ayurveda informally as a personal passion before completing three years of formal study. Throughout that journey, I constantly struggled to find a book that felt accessible. Most of what I encountered was either far too dense for a beginner’s mind or strictly limited to recipe collections.
I wanted something different—a practical bridge connecting ancient wisdom to our real, modern lives. I wanted to answer two simple questions: What is Ayurveda, really? And how can it enrich our daily lives without becoming an overwhelming list of chores?
Today, fresh out of the oven, this book is ready for your hands.
This book is divided into two clear, accessible sections designed to guide you from foundational understanding to daily action:
Demystifying the core framework of Ayurvedic science in simple, tangible terms:
Purusha & Prakriti: The dance of consciousness and creative energy
The 5 Elements (Pancha Mahabhutas): Space, Air, Fire, Water, Earth
The 3 Doshas: Understanding Vata, Pitta, and Kapha beyond rigid labels
Prakriti vs. Vikruti: Respecting your birth blueprint vs. current balance
Agni & Ama: Tending your internal digestive fire and clearing toxicity
The 7 Dhatus & Subtle Essences: Nourishing your tissues, Prana, Tejas & Ojas
7 Core Principles distilled from Pilar's personal practice and real-world life:
Living in Sync with Nature: Circadian rhythms, light, and contemplation
The Alchemy of Food & Digestion: The 6 tastes, Sattvic eating, gut health
Herbs & Spices: The Kitchen Apothecary: Transforming your spice cabinet
Consistency Defines Longevity: Dinacharya (daily rituals) & Abhyanga massage
The Law of Movement: Dosha-tailored activity and therapeutic Yoga Asana
Mastering Our Breath: Nasal breathing, Pranayama, and Vagus Nerve regulation
Beyond the Physical: The 5 Koshas, Sadvritta (right living), & meditation

Our deepest gratitude this month goes to Mother Nature, who generously provides our home, fuels our sanctuary, and sustains our coastal ecosystem in Bahia Ballena.
